‘Ragged’ at work, 19-yr-old kills self

A trainee at the multi-national company Bosch Limited committed suicide allegedly due to ragging and harassment by her colleagues. The suicide attempt occurred on September 1, 2013 and she succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday morning.
Police sources said that the girl, Pranali Pradeep Rahane (19), was working as a trainee for the past three years in Bosch, which manufacturers auto equipment.
Ms Rahane had told her father about the ragging and he asked her to file a complaint with the management.
On the evening of September 1, she locked herself in her house. She slashed her wrists with a blade and while bleeding, tied a dupatta (scarf) to a ceiling fan and hanged herself. Her younger brother came home and banged on the door and when he did not get any response, called his father. The father broke the door and found her hanging.
She was taken to hospital and was being treated but died on Tuesday at 7.15 am.
Her suicide note stated that ten people — Bhushan Pardeshi, Abhijeet Bhor, Vishal Korde, Ameet Pawar, Swapnil Sonawane, Shewta Shinde, Tejaswani Birari, Subdha Kajale, Neha Sonawane and Harshal Patil — were responsible for her death.
Police has arrested all the accused, who were remanded to police custody till September 7 by magistrate M.A. Deshmukh
assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Ganesh Shinde said that cases under Section 4 of Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act along with Section 306 and 34 of the IPC have been registered against the ten accused.
Bosch officials said they had received no complaint from Ms Rahane and were cooperating with the police in the investigation.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
