Rahul’s visit part of ‘Mission 2014’
The Congress is doing its utmost to use Rahul Gandhi’s Mumbai visit on April 27 to rejuvenate the party organisation in Maharashtra. The Congress is calling “Mission 2014” and chief minister Prithviraj Chavan is personally monitoring the preparations for Mr Gandhi’s programmes in Mumbai, where he will interact with state Congress leaders and office bearers.
As per the schedule planned by the state Congress, the Congress general secretary will address a gathering of party’s taluka, block and district presidents at Bhaidas Hall, Vile Parle. Thereafter, he will meet state Congress office bearers and leaders at the Congress office. In his third and last proposed programme, Mr Gandhi will address party’s elected representatives.
“This is a carefully planned programme in order to strengthen the party organisation to face the 2014 Lok Sabha and state assembly elections. The party’s state observer Mohan Prakash, the CM and state Congress chief Manikrao Thakre have taken personal interest in the planning of every event,” a senior state Congress leader said.
Mr Chavan, who visited Delhi last week, has also invited Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to visit the state. “The state Congress wishes to hold various programmes with Mrs Gandhi and the PM in different parts of state,” the Congress leader said.
