Raids on top Mumbai leader
A special investigation team led by Rajvardhan Sinha, additional commissioner of police (economic offences wing), raided 19 properties belonging to Mumbai Congress leader Kripashankar Singh in the city all through Friday, 48 hours after registering a case of disproportionate assets against him. The police later attached all of Mr Singh’s movable and non-movable properties.
The Congress leader and his family members own one bungalow, seven flats and hundreds of acres of land across Maharashtra. On Friday, Mr Sinha and his team began raids on Mr Singh’s properties across the city at 8 am. The first raids were at his house at Carter Road, Bandra, the Tarang bungalow, his daughter Sunita’s flat in Bandra’s Turner Road and an office and a house in Bandra’s Sai Prasad Society. Two flats at Powai’s Kingston Building, a shop in Panvel and another flat in Jupiter Society at Vile Parle were also raided.
A team of over 100 officers from EOW, crime branch and the local police were involved. The police seized two BMWs being used by Mr Singh and his family outside the Tarang bungalow.
The raiding team also recovered 400 live cartridges from the Tarang bungalow, along with two revolvers. Sources said the revolvers were licensed. “A huge quantity of documents have also been recovered. Among movable properties, the seizure includes some cars and other valuables,” a source said.
