Re-test within 40 days: MU

In a benevolent move, the University of Mumbai has come out with a new rule that will allow students to appear for a paper they had failed within 40 days of the results being declared.
The additional exam facility, as it has been called, will ensure that students do not have to waste a year. This additional exam is over and above the revamped Allowed to Keep Term (ATKT) rule that allows students to carry two/three ATKTs to the next semester.
The University’s academic council passed a resolution stating that students studying in the semester-based courses will be allowed to sit for an additional examination if they fail in any of the subjects.
This resolution also states that the additional examination has to be conducted by the institutions within 40 days.
The eligibility to take advantage of the initiative is currently
restricted to only those students who have been unable to appear for the exam on medical grounds or has been representing the University or other institutions in sporting, extra-curricular activities, NSS or NCC duty.
A student who does not appear for both term examinations will not be eligible to appear for the additional examination.
According to the resolution, the additional examination will be two hours long and worth 50 marks per subject. The student will appear for the subject of the term examination that has been missed.
When contacted, director of examination Dr S. Deo said, “This new
resolution of additional examinations has been brought up for the
benefit of the students. Most of the students represent their colleges in various activities like sports, NCC, NSS and other University events. At times, these students even miss their examinations due to these events and have to suffer for no reason. So, to curb this practice, the University has brought up the additional examination initiative, which will make the students balance out their events along with the examinations.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
