Red, Green notices for foreign crooks
The Colaba police on Friday initiated the process of slapping two more worldwide lookout notices through Interpol against the two Bulgarian crooks Tsenev Yulian Georgiev (27) and Elin Pelin (26), who reportedly stole ATM card data of Mumbaikars from seven ATM booths across the city to fraudulently withdraw money in Greece. Earlier, security agencies had issued a Blue Corner notice against the duo.
An officer on condition of anonymity on Friday told this newspaper that Green Corner Notice is being issued against the accused to get their information as they have committed criminal offences and are likely to repeat these crimes in other countries. Through the Extradition Cell, the files of the case, demanding these notices will go to CBI, which will then get notices issued from Interpol. A Red Corner notice will also be issued against the duo. However, it is a lengthy process, and will be done after a chargesheet is filed in the case in coming days, said the official. The police has already issued a Blue Corner Notice against the accused. It is generally issued to detain a criminal suspect and also to collect additional information about a person’s identity, location and activities in relation to the crime.
Another official said that the actual process of locating and arresting the accused, and communicating with the government of Bulgaria was already done some days ago.
