Report on Wakf board CEO to CM today: DGP
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) will give a report against the chief executive officer of Wakf Board N.D. Pathan to chief minister Prithviraj Chavan on Tuesday.
DGP (ACB) Raj Khilnani told this newspaper that the ACB will hand over a detailed report about their investigations and how Pathan was arrested red-handed. Meanwhile, the police is continuing its search at Pathan’s
properties, and on Monday, carried out search at his house in Aurangabad.
The report will also include details of seizure of his movable and immovable properties in Nanded and other districts.
DGP Khilnani further said, “On Monday ACB sleuths carried out searches at Pathan’s house in Aurangabad. Earlier his house in Nanded was searched, which is worth around `70 lakh.”
Pathan was arrested on Saturday while accepting `30,000 — part of the `1.50 lakh bribe — from a farmer for granting him extension of lease on a piece of land for three years. He was nabbed from his house in Sahyog Nagar, Nanded, from where, the ACB sleuths also seized `1.19 crore in cash, home appliances and several documents pertaining to properties worth around `2 crore.
“We have also scrutinised his locker in State Bank of Hyderabad in Nazirabad branch in Nanded and found 750 grams of gold,” DGP Khilnani added.
Pathan has been arrested under Sections 7, 13 (1) (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. He was sent to police custody up to July 4 after he was produced in a holiday court on Sunday.
“We are also collecting details about his previous postings in various other districts and will subsequently check whether he bought properties while serving in those districts,” said Nandkumar Deshmukh, superintendent of police, Nanded ACB.
