Sandhya Singh, sister of yesteryear actresses Sulakshana, Vijeta Pandit and Bollywood music composers Jatin-Lalit, was assaulted before being killed, police has said.
The police said that the forensic report in the murder case of Sandhya concluded that she was beaten up before being killed. Investigating officers now believe that it has only strengthened the chances of a known person’s involvement.
Sandhya had gone missing on December 13, the day she went to a bank in Nerul to deposit jewellery worth around `20 lakh. In the last week of January, remains of a human skull and bones were found in Nerul area. The forensic examinations of the bones had later confirmed that they were of Sandhya after reports confirmed that the DNA found from the remains matched to those of her family members.
However, to get to the bottom of the case and establish the cause of her murder, the police put across questions to forensics. Recently, the investigating officials received the FSL report that suggested that she had suffered injuries before she was actually killed. A senior official from the Mumbai crime branch confirmed that she was bleeding before being dumped. Another official said that the report increased the possibility of involvement of a known person in the case. “Usually robbers don’t assault victims brutally as they want to escape from the scene with booty quickly,” said the official.
However, in this case Sandhya suffered gashes injuries on her head, and it seemed like someone had banged her head on the rocks, he added.
A team of officers from crime branch unit 6 and property cell is probing the case after state government had transferred the case to Mumbai police from Navi Mumbai.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
