Serial offender rapes teen in Antop Hill
A 33-year-old serial offender has been arrested by the Antop Hill police for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl in Antop Hill on Saturday night. The accused, who has many criminal cases against him, had allegedly gagged the girl and raped her in an unattended room after threatening her.
The accused has been identified as K.D. Raja, who has previous cases of extortion, robbery and assault registered against him at Wadala and Antop Hill police stations. He stays in the same locality as the victim and is known to her.
According to the police, on Saturday at around 11 pm, Raja told the girl that he would drop her home on his bike as he was going to the same direction as her. “Raja took her to an unattended room near his residence on the pretext of introducing her to his wife. However, no one was present in the room and the accused threatened the girl, gagged her with a cloth and later
raped her,” said a police officer.
Another officer said that victim lives with her mother who had gone to Reay Road for some work when the incident took place. “When the mother came back home, the victim narrated her the entire incident after which her family approached us,” said Narendra Vichare, senior inspector, Antop Hill police station.
We have arrested the accused within an hour of the offence committed, Mr Vichare said. He was produced before a local court on Sunday that remanded him to police custody upto September 16.
Sources say the accused was helped by few of his friends who were standing outside the room to make sure no one enters.
The police is now looking for these people. Raja has been booked for rape, causing hurt and under relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
