Snubbed by Raj, Kadam meets Rane
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena MLA, Ram Kadam, who was in the news recently after he was allegedly involved in beating up a policeman in the Maharashtra Assembly on March 20 met revenue minister Narayan Rane at the latter’s residence in Bandra on Sunday. The meeting has led to speculation in the political circles that Mr Kadam may be exploring the possibility of quitting the MNS and joining the Congress.
The moves comes as Kadam has been declared persona non grata in the party as MNS chief Raj Thackeray has not taken kindly to the incident. A frustrated Kadam has not even been able to meet Thackeray after the incident. In fact, a few days ago it was Bahujan Vikas Aghadi MLA Kshitij Thakur and his father Hitendra Thakur who had gone to visit Raj at his Dadar home in order to give Kadam’s version. Though the meeting lasted an hour, Thackeray did not change his stand on Kadam.
Congress sources said that it would not be that easy for Mr Rane to bring Kadam in to the party as the latter’s inclusion could prove embarrassing to the party. “The other important issue is that Assembly elections in the state are just one-and-a-half years away and if Mr Kadam quits the MNS, then he would have to contest again. This could prove a difficult task for him considering the fact that he won the last election because he had the backing of the party,” the source said.
