Sooraj said ‘sorry’ in last letter

Sooraj said ‘sorry’ in last letter
, June 13

In his last one-page love letter to actress Jiah Khan (25) written with a pencil, her boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi (21) said “Sorry” to her. Jiah’s sister handed over the said letter to the Juhu police a few days ago.
The police on Thursday tried to seek Sooraj’s further remand to take his handwriting samples and probe the rape allegation alleged by Jiah in her six-page letter. But, the Andheri magistrate’s court sent him to judicial custody till June 27. Meanwhile, Sooraj, through his lawyers, has applied for bail in the sessions court.
An investigating official said, “The one-page letter written by Sooraj and found from Jiah’s residence did not have his signature or date. Further, its contents were not incriminating, based on which, we could have got his remand.” The official refused to disclose its contents. A couple of hours after Sooraj was remanded to judicial custody, he was taken to the Arthur Road jail, where he will have to stay till he gets bail.
His lawyer Zamir Khan confirmed that they have applied for bail in the sessions court and the matter may come up for hearing on Friday at noon. A lot depends upon the Juhu police, who might object to Sooraj’s bail.
Speaking to mediapersons on Thursday evening, Jiah’s mother Rabia said, “Jiah didn’t tell me that she had gone through an abortion. What happened to my child should not happen to anyone else. They (girls) must always open up to their parents about all their problems.” Speaking about Sooraj, Rabia added, “He had assaulted my daughter and also apologised for the same through SMS.”
However, the investigating official said, “It is not possible to prove in court that the aborted child belonged to Sooraj. A friend of Jiah may say
that she had mentioned to her that it was Sooraj’s child, but the court does not believe in mere hearsay.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
