Speeding Indica kills 6-yr-old boy in bhandup
A six-year-old boy died on Sunday when the autorickshaw he was sitting in with his parents turned turtle after a speeding Indica crashed into its middle portion. According to an official from the Bhandup police station, the incident took place at around 12.30 pm on the road parallel to the Bhandup railway station below the Guru Nanak School.
“The rickshaw was moving straight on the road and the speeding Indica was coming out of a lane and while taking a right turn, crashed into the rickshaw which caused it to turn turtle,” said assistant inspector, Sudhir Gadkari of the Bhandup police station.
The Indica driver drove away from the spot instead of helping the victims, but the the registration number was noted down by a passerby.
The deceased, Harshwardan Ashok Kumbhar, was rushed to the Mulund General Hospital where he was declared dead. His father Ashok Kumbhar (40), a businessman, mother Sunita (34) and rickshaw driver Hemraj Gajbale (27) escaped with minor injuries.
Harshwardhan suffered serious internal injuries as he was seated on the side, which was badly hit by the car. The doctor said his chest was severely injured. The Kumbhar family lives in the Kalbadevi area of south Mumbai and was on their way to meet a friend in Bhandup.

Slab collapses at kem hospital

A slab collapse took place in the King Edward Memorial (KEM) hospital in Parel area of Central Mumbai on Sunday afternoon, where a 13-year-old girl escaped with minor injuries, a BMC official said.
According to an official from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) disaster management cell the incident occurred at around 2.13 pm on the second floor of the old KEM building. A small portion of the slab collapsed in ward no. 33 on the victim identified as Rupa Mistry. Mistry was treated at the hospital and was discharged in the evening. According to the Bhoiwada police, it was a minor incident and hence no case was registered till late Sunday night.
