Students suffer as exam centres unreachable
The crippling of the Central Railway (CR) line spelt doom for several students who were headed towards their respective centres to appear for their board examinations.
Examinations are been held for TYBA, BSc-IT, BMS, BMM, BSW final and other graduation courses alongside examinations for postgraduate courses like MA, Mcom, MSc, etc. Ina bid to provide relief to students, permissions were granted to write examinations at any centre that was convenient to a student.
Rashmi Rajwani, a BMM student who left her house in Ulhasnagar at 7.30 am in the morning to reach Swami Vivekanand College, said, “ Even after leaving early I could not reach my college on time. I reached Vikas College in Vikroli where I was allowed to appear for the examination. We were also allotted extra time in accordance to our delay.”
Dr S.M. Suryawanshi, Contoller of Examinations, University of Mumbai said, “When we realised that there is a major problem and asked students to approach the nearest centres. We are awaiting detailed report about the number of students who managed to appeared and then take an appropriate decision on whether a re-examination should be conducted on Thursday.”
Sangeeta Kohli, chairperson of BMM Board, and principal of S K Somaiya College, said, “The University had informed all the colleges to take measures to help students.”
