Suspected b’desh nationals arrested
The Kashimira police in Thane rural has arrested 28 suspected Bangladeshi nationals on Tuesday who had illegally crossed the border and travelled all the way to Thane district by train. According to the Kashimira police, the arrested men and women were living in Pendkar Pada area near Dahisar check naka. They were arrested on Tuesday morning under the Passports Act. The arrested comprise eight men and 14 women. The police also detained their five children, including three girls. The suspected nationals were living on rent in a chawl area and were working as daily wage labourers, the police said. “After receiving a tip-off that suspected Bangladeshis were living in Pendkar Pada, we rushed to the spot and started interrogating them. During our investigation, we found that they did not have any proof to prove that they are Indian citizens.” Another police official associated with the Kashimira police said, “We sent each of them for a medical test. It does not look like they are part of any prostitution racket. However, we are checking if they were carrying any forged documents.”
