Tatkare selling benami land: Patil

Peasants and Workers Party MLC Jayant Patil on Monday alleged that NCP minister Sunil Tatkare is selling properties and estates in the Raigad district to people from Pune and Mumbai. Mr Patil, who also became a whistleblower in the irrigation scam, demanded seizure of all the properties.
Mr Tatkare is facing accusations that he bought a lot of benami properties in the Raigad district using money earned from various scams. Mr Patil has alleged that Mr Tatkare has bogus companies in the name of relatives, servants etc. with the aim of amassing property. “People from Pune and Mumbai are thronging Raigad to buy these properties. Tatkare fears that these plots will be seized and that court may seal the accounts of his company. Hence, he is in a hurry to sell all the grabbed land,” alleged Mr Patil.
The member of the state legislative council said that in a week’s time he will come up with more details about interested parties. “For the time being, I would like to reveal that one Paranjpe Group from Pune is showing a lot of interest in buying Tatkare’s properties,” Mr Patil said.
Speaking about the irrigation scam, Mr Patil pointed out that when allegations were made against A.R. Antulay, he resigned as the chief minister. “Mr Antulay allowed an independent inquiry into the scam and was acquitted after 20 years by the court because he had not taken any money for himself. Let the NCP ministers who resign face the judicial process and prove their innocence,” said Mr Patil.
The PWP leader also urged CM Prithviraj Chavan to order a special audit and get a white paper issued by a special team on the irrigation scam. The PWP leader further alleged that budgetary allocation for irrigation department was of `7,000 crore but work given was of ` 20,000 crore.
Reacting to CM’s announcement of setting up an departmental inquiry, he said, “The CM seems like an honest person. I will issue a black paper if the white paper is not up to the mark.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
