Trivedi hot topic on Twitter post-budget
Union railway minister Dinesh Trivedi became one of the top 10 trending topics on Twitter, after he announced the budget on Wednesday.
The railway minister’s statement about sacrificing his chair drew a wide range of tweets. Mr Trivedi said, “If Shahid Bhagat Singh could sacrifice his life, what’s a chair?” A popular Twitter handle with the name fakingnnews commented, “Ek baar maine commitment kar di, to bhagat singh chair nahi sacrifice kar sakta.” Some users, who were sincerely hooked to the budget said, “Kudos to Dinesh Trivedi. Has the guts to push proper reforms & not populism #RailBudget #iRespect.”
However, it was Ms Banerjee’s statement to either “roll back the fare hike, or quit” that elicited strong reactions from Twitteratis. A tweet read, “Even within one’s own party there seems to be a breakdown in communications. #dineshtrivedi #railbudget.”
Many also condemned Ms Banerjee. “Mamta Banerjee seems to have forgotten that Dinesh Trivedi belongs to her own party and is not a Congressman #RailBudget,” a tweet said. Another, condemning the popularly belligerent leader, said, “Mamata suffers from disease Jaya & Left had earlier. That they are invincible & that voters reward belligerent obdurate leaders.”
