Two arrested for killing man by castration

The Mumbai Central GRP has arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a ragpicker two months ago. The deceased was found brutally murdered at an abandoned signalling cabin near Mahim station.
Bashir Shaikh was found killed by castration two months ago. The police has arrested Hasan Shaikh and Imran Ahmed Hussain in this connection while two other accused are still at large.
GRP stated that Bashir, who stayed in the slums adjoining those at Mahim, was pestering Hasan’s wife for sexual favours. Bashir and Hasan were friends as the deceased was a ragpicker and the latter a scrap dealer.
“There were frequent skirmishes between them. Hasan had warned Bashir, but to no avail,” said senior inspector Shivaji Shinde, Mumbai Central GRP.
Infuriated, Hassan decided to eliminate Bashir and hatched a plan along with his friends.
On September 4, Hasan and his friends took Bashir for a drink. They then took Bashir to the isolated signalling cabin lying unused from the past decade and castrated him.
A case of murder has been registered against the duo and they have been remanded to police custody till November 10.

‘No-touch breast scanners soon’
Age correspondent
Mumbai, Nov. 7

With the idea of spreading breast cancer awareness, the BMC is planning to buy automated machines called “No-Touch Breast Scan” machines in civic hospitals.
The machines will ensure a quick diagnosis of breast cancer and are expected to be a huge relief for women, who avoid undergoing such check-ups due to awkwardness.
According to the civic officials, there is an expected 25-30 per cent rise in breast cancer patients in the city every year.
On the occasion of National Cancer Awareness Day, civic health committee chairperson Geeta Gawli convened a meeting of deans of civic hospitals, in which a decision was taken to buy No-Touch Breast Scan machines for the city.
“The idea is to make it easier for women to come for check ups so that breast cancer is detected early,” said Ms Gawli.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
