Two separate fatal hit-and-run accidents took place in Thane rural area on Monday, in which a man and woman were killed.
At first, the police was clueless about the cause of death; however, the autopsy reports of both the deceased stated that the wounds sustained are due to being hit by vehicles.

An investigating official said, “During the panchnama we saw a name ‘Shankar Rane’ scribbled on the forehand of the deceased. We believe that it’s the name of the victim. However, no one has come forward to claim his body,”“The body has been kept at a hospital in Dhanu. It will remain there for around a fortnight. We are investigating to find out if any person saw the accident or if there are any CCTV cameras in the area,” he added.
The second incident took place at around 10 pm in Chapalpada area of Mokhada, when the deceased identified as Anusuyya Lahange (55) was walking towards her factory unit, where she worked as a labourer.
