Wife kills cop, confesses

A 43-year-old assistant police inspector was brutally murdered by his wife who smashed a kadappa stone and a hammer on his head at their residence in Andheri’s Marol area on Sunday afternoon. The wife called the police and confessed to the crime and was subsequently arrested on murder charges.
The incident took place at around 3 pm in the Marol police camp quarters. The deceased, assistant inspector Nandkishore Takasalkar, was under the influence of alcohol and had a verbal spat with his wife, before going off to sleep.
The accused, Parvati (36), murdered him in cold blood while he was fast asleep. At the time of the murder, their minor son (aged around 13 years) was sleeping in the room. The murder came to light when she called the police and confessed to the crime.
Parvati alleged that Takasalkar always suspected her of having an extra-marital affair and used to mentally and physically harass her after regularly consuming alcohol.
When contacted, Bajirao Bhosle, senior police inspector of Powai police station said, “They were having trouble for the past two years and back then Parvati had approached us for help. We had registered non-congnisable offences against Takasalkar and tried to resolve their problems.”
Mr Bhosle confirmed that the duo had also been counselled by the social service branch’s counseling cell located next to the police commissioner’s headquarters, but could not find a permanent solution to their problems.
Parvati is Takasalkar’s second wife and the duo got married about six years ago. While Takasalkar has a son from his first marriage, Parvati has two minor children from her first marriage. However, her children live with her first husband.
When asked if Takasalkar’s posting at the local arms was a punishment posting, Mr Bhosle parried the question, but confirmed that he was neither on sick leave nor under suspension.
Parvati has been arrested under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and will be produced in a magistrate’s court on Monday. The deceased’s body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for an autopsy.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
