‘Will tour country for over one year’
Social activist Anna Hazare will set out on a year-and-a-half nationwide tour in January 2013 to press the demand for a strong Jan Lokpal Bill. The tour will commence from Patna.
“The tour will commence in January 2013 from Gandhi Maidan in Patna where Jaiprakash Narayan launched his movement. For a year and a half, we will tour various districts, talukas and villages for creating awareness and to garner support for the movement,” said Mr Hazare in a statement issued from his hometown, Ralegan Siddhi. A team of 10 technical experts met at Ralegan Siddhi to discuss how the Internet could be used to garner support for Mr Hazare’s movement. He aims to reach the masses from “Delhi to galli” (lanes) through interactions on social media. “I have received thousands of letters from youngsters of this country who are willing to join the movement. By using technology, we will change the number from thousands to crores,” he said. Mr Hazare claimed to have received letters of support from over 100 retired, high-ranking officers of the IAS, IPS, Brigadier, and Colonel rank.
Along with the Jan Lokpal, Mr Hazare will create public awareness on provisions of the right to reject, right to recall and also Gram Swaraj (village self-rule).
