Wilson’s video a YouTube rage
A music video launched by students from Wilson College, as part of a social awareness drive against drunken driving, has became a rage among youngsters and pub-goers.
The song titled Peeke Mat Chala is not only popular among college students, but also radio channels, who are lining up at the gates of the college to air the video, which has been ingeniously made by five students. According to the team members, the video has generated great interest due to its music, as well as the celebrities who were roped in for the initiative.
Speaking about the campaign, Shweta Ramesh one of the key members of the team, who roped in celebrities like Pooja Bedi, Cyrus Broacha, Rahul Vaidya, Suchitra Pillai among
others to speak on the perils of drunken driving in the video, said, “There have been many initiatives against drunken driving in the previous years, but they have had limited reach. Hence, we decided to make a music video instead, and upload it on YouTube.”
Though the campaign was kicked off in the first week of September, Shweta said that it gained popularity only after they visited pubs and bars across the city, and distributed stirrers with the link of the video.
The video was launched in the second week of September and has already received more than 4,000 hits since the launch.
The team, comprising TYBMM students Abhay Raha, Thomson Muriyadan, Alisha Mishra, Yash Singh and Shweta, shot and edited the video on their own. The music and lyrics have also been written by them.
