Woman files rape case against father-in-law
A 38-year-old woman has registered a rape case against her 75-year-old father-in-law at the Dahisar police station on Saturday. No arrests have been made so far.
A month ago, the accused, who is a millionaire, had filed a case against his daughter-in-law Pratibha (name changed) with the MHB Colony police station for falsely implicating and blackmailing him with the intent of usurping his property.
The accused, Dhansukh Lal Singh (name changed to protect victim’s identity), runs a big temple in Borivali (west), which is thronged by thousands of devotees every day. Singh has employed four men who keep an account of the hefty donations made to the temple.
Singh has three sons and his eldest son’s wife Pratibha has registered the rape case against him. According to Pratibha, a BSc graduate, Singh raped her since 1995 till 2010 at her residence in Dahisar (east) in the absence of her husband. However, Singh’s second wife (aged around 42) claimed that Pratibha was falsely implicating and blackmailing her husband for a share in his huge property.
After Singh’s wife passed away, he married another woman in February 2012. His second wife has a 22-year-old son and another daughter who live with Singh. His second wife said, “Pratibha just wants a share in our property and therefore, is making these false allegations.”
Singh owns a 3BHK flat in Dahisar (east) and a few cars. He is also the owner of a temple in Borivali (west) and operates as the sole “trustee” handling lakh of rupees that pour in as donations every month. An official from Dahisar police confirmed the incident and said that they would probe the allegations before arresting Singh.
