World Health Day tops Mumbai trend on Twitter
World Health Day was the most trending topic on Twitter, both in the city and the country on Saturday. Owing to the growing interest in health, Twitter handles of organisations like corporate giants General Electronics, World Economic Forum, United Nations and also individuals like Sri Sri Ravi Shankar carried tweets about the event.
Incidentally, the World Health Organization (WHO) also celebrated its 65th year since its inception on Saturday. The official Twitter handle of WHO said, “Yeah, today, 7 April, is World Health Day. We also celebrate the World Health Organization’s 65th birthday. We #AddHealth2Life! (sic)”
Apart from celebrating World Health Day on the micro-blogging website, WHO organised several interactive activities, including video conferences and chat-room discussions on health topics, most of which were facilitated by WHO. Meanwhile, spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar tweeted, “A crime-free and violence free society respecting diversity is healthy. Happy World Health Day!” Informative tweets like, “World Health Day: TOBACCO KILLED 1,20,000 INDIANS in 2010. Tobacco-related cancers cause most deaths,” were also doing the rounds.
