WR unveils catering complaint helpline
The Western Railways has introduced a unique catering complaint helpline for the convenience of the commuters to register issues like dissatisfaction in food quality, over-charging, etc. If a commuter is not content with the food quality, both at railway stations and in running trains, then they can call or send an SMS to 9004441955 — the helpline number. The commuters can also send catering related complaints at cateringcomplaint@wr.railnet.gov.in, the Western Railways’ email ID.
The CPRO of WR, Sharat Chandrayan said, “The Catering complaint number has been set up by the Western Railways for providing proactive and effective complaint redressal mechanism.”
He added, “We are going to put up posters at prominent locations in stations and reservation offices and stickers in trains. We also plan to publish this number at the back of the reserved tickets. It will not only help to redress the catering complaints quickly, but also to improve the quality of service. The railway passengers have welcomed this move and said that this is a delayed, but good decision undoubtedly. Rail activist, Kailash Verma said, “WR has taken this good step because it was flooded with complaints. Now, we hope that errant catering agents will get pulled up if do something wrong.”
The ministry of railways has also set up a central monitoring cell with a toll free number — 1800-111-321 to register catering related complaints. The toll free number can be reached on all seven days of the week between 7 am and 10 pm.
