Zubin goes back to school

Indian conductor Zubin Mehta visited his alma mater St. Mary’s School, Mazgaon, to inaugurate the school’s 150th year celebration on Wednesday. The master composer was elated on visiting the school and relived nostalgic memories.
Mehta said, “I spent some of my happiest years in this school. We had wonderful teachers and the education received at St. Mary’s has been so solid and with so much discipline, that it has helped me all my life. St. Mary’s School boys have a lot of lust for power and to my knowledge from the ones I know, they have all done well. I am honoured that my school invited me here today to join you all in celebrating 150 years of imparting brilliance that has truly enriched the lives of many like me.”
The artiste’s wife, Nancy Kovack, who accompanied him, also spoke at the event. She asked the students to imbibe a sense of social responsibility as they grow older. “I only wish that each one of you students who are indeed so privileged to gain this exceptional education can share this high level of education with another in India who has not had access to it and assist each other in realising your ambitions.”
