Staying new for ever
The New Year is greeted with so much enthusiasm and ecstasy that one feels the festive mood is going to remain so throughout the year. But even before the flowers of the party wilt, a staleness starts settling inside people. They fall back into their old mechanical rut. The newness wears off like a lipstick.
Is there a way of keeping the celebration on through the year?
Yes, it is possible if you drop the misconception that celebration needs a particular date. Just think, is it possible that you are depressed for 364 days and suddenly one day you become celebrative?
No, Osho discourages these kinds of artificial celebrations. If people learn the art of renewing themselves each moment, each day will be a celebration. These Osho insights, if practised, will add freshness to your day to day life.
w Start the morning by laughing at yourself. And whenever you can find a moment in the day, have a good laugh for no particular reason, just because the whole world is so absurd, just because the way you are is so absurd. Let the laughter be a belly laughter, not from the head. Let the laughter go to your toes, to the whole body. A deep and total laughter is a medicine for seriousness.
w Relaxation is not a consequence, is not a result of some activity; it is the glow of understanding. If you try to relax, you feel more tense than ever. Relaxation is a state of mind. If you realise that the tension is a misunderstanding of the mind, you are relaxed!
w Whenever you start feeling any depression coming, start enjoying it immediately. Identify with it; there is nothing to be worried about. Be really depressed. Sing songs of depression, dance very depressive dances. Let it be a welcome guest, and immediately you will see its energy is changing. If you start enjoying depression, it is no more depression; you have transformed it.
w Dance a little more, sing a little more, be a little more crazy, the energy will be flowing more, and the problems will by and by disappear. Let the whole energy become dance, and suddenly you will see that you don’t have any head. The stuck energy in the head is moving all around, creating beautiful patterns, pictures, movement. There comes a moment when your body is no longer a rigid thing, it starts flowing.
w Clean your mind every day just as you clean your body. Whenever you are alone, do not think, do gibberish. Just sit silently and start saying any nonsense that comes –– wild sounds or whatsoever. Soon you will be unburdened.
