I-T returns deadline extended
The income-tax department has extended the last date of filing returns by corporates for the assessment year 2010-11 to October 15, on account of disturbance due to floods in many parts of the country. “The Central Board of Direct Taxes has extended the due date of filing income tax returns for the assessment year 2010-11 from September 30 to October 15. The due date has been extended in view of disturbance to general life caused by floods,” an official statement said on Tuesday. Accordingly, the deadline for obtaining the tax audit report also stands extended to October 15. The due date for J&K, however, remains at November 30. Floods have affected various parts of the country including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
