Kohler new head of Tata Steel Europe

Tata Steel on Friday said Karl Ulrich Kohler has taken over as the managing director and CEO of its European operations. Mr Kohler, the former chief operating officer of the company, will be inducted into Tata Steel’s board at its next meeting, the company said. His appointment follows the chief executive, Mr Kirby Adam’s announcement that he was exiting the Anglo-Dutch steel-maker, which has now been rebranded as Tata Steel Europe. Born in Germany, Mr Kohler studied metallurgy at Clausthal University of Technology, where he gained his
doctorate in 1988. In 2005 he was awarded an honorary professorship in flat steel product technology by Freiberg University.
