‘I said no to Superman, Bond roles’
Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood said that he was offered the roles of James Bond and Superman in his younger days. But he refused to don both the iconic tuxedo and the red cape.
The 80-year-old actor and director said he was approached to take over as 007 after Sean Connery walked out on the role in 1967, reported Los Angeles Times online.
At the time Eastwood was playing cowboys in spaghetti westerns such as The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. “He came and said, ‘They would love to have you’. I was offered pretty good money to do James Bond if I would take on the role. But to me, well, that was somebody else’s gig. That’s Sean’s deal. It didn’t feel right for me to be doing it,” said the Academy winning actor.

Indian filmmaker Vijay Kumar has pleaded “no contest” after he was convicted on Thursday of illegally carrying brass knuckles in his luggage, so he can finally return home.
Kumar was convicted on Thursday of illegally carrying brass knuckles in his checked airport baggage. He pleaded “no contest” to a misdemeanour weapons charge in exchange for time served and could be returned to India in about a week.
Kumar agreed to the plea deal to avoid further jail time and immigration charges.
“He’s just a victim of circumstance,” said his attorney Grant Scheiner.
“They should have just dismissed the case once they found out he had relied on a TSA website,” the attorney said. —PTI
