‘Zsa Zsa to get leg amputated’
Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor was in hospital in Los Angeles on Sunday following complications with one of her legs and will have to undergo a partial amputation, CNN reported.
The network quoted the actress’s publicist, John Blanchette, as saying that cancerous lesions started appearing on Gabor’s right leg, and gangrene was imminent.
As a result Gabor, 93, will have her leg amputated below the knee, the report said. The actress was hospitalised last July after falling and breaking her hip. She underwent hip replacement surgery but suffered more complications, including a blood clot for which she had more surgery.
During another hospital stay in August, she called in a priest to administer last rites, then left the hospital a day later insisting that she wanted to be back at home in her posh Bel Air neighbourhood with her colourful German husband, Frederic von Anhalt.
The Hungarian-born actress’s lengthy film career includes spots in a dozen films and television series.
