Celeb TV chef Ramsay makes family feud public
British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, who is famous for his expletive-ridden television series like Hell’s Kitchen, F Word and Kitchen Nightmares, has made a feud with his wife’s family public by writing an open letter to his mother-in-law.
The Michelin-starred chef in a surprise decision fired his father-in-law Chris Hutcheson, who was the chief executive of the holding company of his restaurant empire, last month. They had been business partners for over 12 years. The sacking led to a major fall-out between the two families.
Forty-four-year-old Ramsay has been married to Hutcheson’s daughter Tana since 1996 and they have three daughters and a son. The family feud became public after the celebrity chef published an open letter in a London newspaper to his mother-in-law, requesting her to stop “punishing” her daughter and grandchildren.
In the open letter, Ramsay said he was writing after Tana received a letter from her mother, Greta, asking her to stay away from her family. “This has to be one of the most painful letters I’ve ever had to write. Listening to Tana in floods of tears reading your letter from you asking that she stays away from her family is so awfully wrong,” he wrote in the letter published in the Evening Standard newspaper.
“I know how hard this must be for you Greta, and I’m not expecting a birthday card, but your (sic) punishing your daughter and our four children, for all the wrong reasons, it’s so sad. She’s an amazing woman and you’ve been a fantastic mum please don’t stop!” he added.
