Crowe ex-wife Danielle may receive $25m
Hollywood star Russell Crowe’s estranged wife Danielle Spencer is reportedly set for a payout of at least $25 million.
The Gladiator star, who raises two sons together eight-year-old Charles and six-year-old Tennyson with Spencer, who split after nine years of marriage this weekend, reported the Huffington Post.
The couple’s property interests alone are worth $50 million, including a $14 million penthouse in Sydney and farmland in New South Wales.
The paper estimates that Crowe, 48, has made some $150 million in acting fees since he and Spencer first met 22-years ago, and he also has a number of other business interests in Sydney, including a share in Rabbitohs football club, a gym and a company which supplies restaurants with beef. — PTI

Way to block gene ‘spreading’ tumour found
Melbourne: Australian researchers have discovered that a gene which prompts growth of tumours in about a quarter of stomach cancer cases can be blocked by antibodies. Scientists led by the Monash Institute of Medical Research have found that a gene which produces a protein called toll-like receptor 2 was over-activated in about 25 per cent of cancer patients.
Researchers found that the protein was causing tumour cells to grow, and that antibodies could counteract it in mice. “It was quite remarkable, over a 10-week period the antibodies actually stopped these tumours from growing,” researcher Brendan Jenkins said. “The antibody treatment is expected to move into human trials within the next couple of years, and would be offered in addition to existing treatments such as chemotherapy before and after surgery,” Jenkins said. — PTI
