Dev Anand kin yet to decide about funeral
The family of Hindi film actor-director Dev Anand, who passed away in a London hotel on Saturday night due to cardiac arrest, has yet to announce the final plans for his funeral.
“We have put together a rough plan of what we are going to do regarding Dev Saab’s funeral arrangements,” UK representative for Navketan International Films, Kenny Muir, told this newspaper.
However, before revealing the final details, the family is keen to get approval of all the members involved. “We are waiting for key family members to come over and join us from India before a final decision is taken on the matter,” said Muir, who along with Dev Anand’s nephew, Tony Sarin, is one of the two persons authorised by the late actor-director’s family to make statements to the media. Dev Anand’s son Suniel Anand, who was with his father when he passed away in his sleep, has been leading the arrangements for the funeral, which is expected to be held in London on Wednesday.
The family has also made contact with the Indian high commission to fine tune the details, but no final details were available till the time of going to the press.
The friends of the family are all gathering at the Mayfair hotel, where the actor-director passed away, but the family members are congregating at the home of Dev Anand’s sister Sheel Kanta Kapur, mother of film director Shekhar Kapur, who stays in Surrey.
