‘Einstein’s dark energy does exist’

“Dark energy” does exist, and it’s not Albert Einstein’s “greatest blunder” in his theory of gravity, say planetary scientists. “Dark energy” is a concept first cast by Einstein in his original “Theory of General Relativity”. The scientist included the idea in his original equations but later ruefully admitted that it was “his greatest blunder”.
Now, a survey of 200,000 galaxies by an international team, led by Dr Chris Blake of Swinburne University, has shown that “dark energy”, responsible for expanding the universe, is real and not a mistake in Einstein’s theory of gravity.
Using the Anglo-Australian Telescope, the team of 26 planetary scientists contributed to the “WiggleZ Dark Energy Survey” which mapped distribution of galaxies over a volume of the Universe. Because light takes so long to reach earth, it was the equivalent of looking seven billion years back in time — more than half way back to the Big Bang.

Lohan gets a restraining order against stalker
Los Angeles: Actress Lindsay Lohan has won a temporary restraining order against a man accused of threatening her with sexual assault.
The 24-year-old actress claims that David Cocordan has been stalking her for the past two years and in the last month he has sent her more than 100 threatening text messages, reported celebrity website TMZ.
He also allegedly altered magazine articles to make it appear as though they were dating, sent her gifts, visited her house and followed her to public appearances.
The Mean Girls star has claimed that the quantity of his contact has escalated in the last month, while the content has become considerably more disturbing.
In her application for the restraining order, Lohan writes, “Without a restraining order I fear that there will not be sufficient law enforcement mechanisms to keep Mr Cocordan away from me.” According to the papers filed at the court, LAPD’s Threat Management Department believes Cocordan has mental issues. —PTI

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
