Elton John recovering after appendix surgery
Legendary singer Elton John, who underwent an appendix surgery recently, is currently recovering at his home.
The 66-year-old Rocket Man singer was operated at Monaco’s Princess Grace hospital and is now staying with husband David Furnish and their sons Zachary and Elijah at his home in Nice, reported Contact-music. “Elton is back in Nice, playing with the boys now. He is a lot better and very positive after the operation. He still has to rest up but is determined to get back on the road next month and can’t wait to see his fans who have sent thousands of get well soon messages,” a source said.

David Beckham offered movie role as a villain
London: Retired soccer star David Beckham has been offered a cameo role in new movie The Secret Service as a villain.
Beckham, who announced he was quitting the sport earlier this year, has been asked by Colin Firth to star in The Secret Service and director Matthew Vaughn is so confident he will agree to appear, he has already had a villainous part written for him, reported Sun online. “Becks was asked by Colin Firth if he’d like to be in the movie but he is yet to fully commit. He loves movies and fancies appearing on the big screen — but just as a one-off, not a full-time career,” a source said. — PTI

London: Actress Naomi Watts says portraying Princess Diana in a film has proved her most challenging role yet.
Watts, 44, said she rejected the offer to play Diana several times but eventually could not bring herself to turn down the role, reported Daily Express. “I was nervous going into it and tried my best to say no a couple of times but I wasn’t at peace with that.
“I guess I wanted to do it for all the reasons I was against it. The idea of doing this transformation and telling the story of someone who is wildly famous, albeit doing it in a sensitive way,” she said. — PTI

Helen Mirren wants Elizabeth I artefact
London: Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren, who played Queen Elizebeth I in television series Elizabeth I, would love to own a hand-written note belonging to the queen.
The 68-year-old The Queen star is fond of the royal family and feels a great affinity with the monarchs having portrayed them on screen and stage, reported Contactmusic.
“I mean, to own a piece of history like that would be so incredible. Maybe one of her letters to her ambassadors, you know, rejecting the hand of the King of Spain or something like that would be great,” she said.
Mirren is renowned for portraying three British queens in different films and television series. She is a four-time Academy Award nominee and has also won an Oscar for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen. — PTI
