Frenzy as Kate’s due date comes & goes
The royal baby frenzy got a boost on Saturday, the day which was chosen by the media as the possible due date of Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge.
The Buckingham Palace on Saturday refused to confirm that the royal baby, dubbed Baby Cambridge, was due this weekend. The palace would only commit to the fact that the child was due to be born in July.
A huge media scrum has gathered outside St. Mary’s Hospital in central London already to get the photograph of the new baby and its parents once they leave after the birth.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, according to the Buckingham Palace, do not know the gender of their child, but bookmakers are predicting a girl for the royal couple.
“In the last seven days we have seen a swell of support for the baby to be named Alexandra and it is hard to believe that the name is not at the very least on the shortlist,” William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said on Sunday. Even Paddy Power is backing birth of a girl. Alexandra is 6-4 favourite to be the chosen name for the new baby at Ladbrokes, with James 6-1. The bets on imminent birth of the royal baby are also increasing and William Hill is offering 7/4 odds that the Duchess of Cambridge will give birth this weekend and just 9/2 that the baby will be born before midnight on Sunday. However, going against the popular opinion, one person staked £1,000 at 6/4 that the new arrival would be a boy.
