Idol star Fantasia attempts suicide

American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino has been hospitalised after attempting to commit suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills and aspirin.
The overdose came after the 26-year-old was named in a divorce petition following an 11-month relationship with a married man and the US police are treating the incident as an “attempted suicide”. The multiple Grammy winner was found slumped in her closet at home in North Carolina but is stable now, reported TMZ.
“She was overwhelmed with the lawsuit and the media attention. Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon,” said her spokesperson. Paula Cook alleged that Fantasia’s relationship with her husband Antwaun ended her marriage, claiming she had intimate video footage of the two together.
Fantasia had denied parts of Cook’s allegations, saying she was not responsible for ending the marriage.
