Jeffersons’ actor hemsley dead at 74

Actor Sherman Hemsley, who rose to fame in the 1970s as the wise-cracking father in the hit sitcom The Jeffersons, has died at the age of 74, police said on Tuesday.
Hemsley was found dead in his El Paso, Texas, home, No foul play is suspected, local police said in a statement.
The Jeffersons was one of the longest-running US television shows with a predominantly black cast. It focused on how the family adjusted to its newfound affluence after the success of a dry cleaning business.
The show explored serious themes such as race and class — and Hemsley’s character George Jefferson was a notable bigot who did not like the interracial marriage of his neighbors in the upscale Manhattan apartment.

To get revenge on wife, man saws furniture
London: A jilted husband in the UK caused a damage of over £5,000 to exact revenge on his estranged wife during divorce proceedings by sawing their furniture into pieces and labelling half of them as his. Kevin Fiore, 56, caused £5,184 of damage to the £130,000 house in Staffo-rdshire, which he shared with wife Katrina.
The man, who had been married for three years, hacked the sofa in half and wrote “Kev’s half” on the cushions, the Daily Mail reported.
A wardrobe, dressing table and two sets of drawers faced the wrath of the jilted man, who also tore down the loft ladder, trashed the bathroom and scrawled offensive messages on the walls.
Fiore, a bankrupt builder who now lives with his daughter from another relationship, pleaded guilty to criminal damage and got a two-year supervision order. — PTI

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
