Jodhpur astrologers predicted Arun-Liz marriage wouldn’t last
THOUGH THE textile tycoon Arun Nayar’s marriage with actress Liz Hurley is heading for divorce, astrologers in Jodhpur were not surprised when a section of media reported that papers have been filed for divorce. The couple had tied the nuptial knot in Jodhpur in royal style in 2007.
Most fortunetellers in Jodhpur made predictions that it would be a long-lasting marriage. But it was Rajendra Purohit who predicted that it will be difficult for the couple to live together. “The other astrologers took Vedic astrology while I went through Krishnamurti method that is more accurate in such cases,” says Mr Purohit. The couple had got married in England’s countryside. Mr Nayar and Hurley performed their wedding in accordance with Hindu traditions, aiming to make their married life more stable. Vastu and Jyotish Anusandhan Kendra’s director Purohit said the time of wedding was not suitable for the couple that resulted in the split. “Mere wealth cannot guarantee happy married life. It depends on several aspects,” says an astrologer in Jodhpur.
Jodhpur has been the centre of astrology for centuries and over 200 astrologers have been practising.
The local organisers hired highly experienced Pandits to perform the wedding with all essential Hindu rituals. “It included the couple circling around the fire and exchanging vows to remain together in next seven lives as husband and wife. But it could not work,” says an astrologer.
