john gets 15-day jail, freed on bail

The Bandra Metropolitian magistrate court, on Thursday convicted Bollywood actor John Abraham for rash and negligent driving and injuring two persons. However, as soon as the court sentenced him to 15 days simple imprisonment, he was granted bail.
“John Abraham was convicted and was sentenced to 15 days imprisonment but was granted bail after he moved a bail application,” said Mangesh Pote, senior inspector of police, Khar police station. Pote also said that John’s license has not been impounded or suspended by the court. The court also imposed the fine of Rs 1,500.
The incident dates back to April 8, 2006, when John had rammed his Yamaha Hayabusa bike into a bicycle with two youngsters on it at around 11.15 pm on Carter Road, Bandra. After the accident John had taken the victims — Shyam Kasbe (22) and Tanmay Majhi (19), both working at Judo Wine shop at Pali Naka — to the nearby Bhabha Hospital. Later, John, who was also injured, got himself admitted to the Lilavati Hospital.
According to the police, John was returning from Maureen Wadia’s Gladrags show while both the youngsters were returning after closing the shop.
