Late-talking kids ‘grow up normal’
Anxious parents of toddlers who start talking late can now heave a sigh of relief! A new study claims your kids are not at risk of having behavioural and emotional problems as they grow up than chatty children.
Researchers at Telethon Institute for Child Health Research in Australia have found late-talking children are no more likely to face behavioural and emotional problems when they grow up than toddlers who’ve normal language development.
The study is the first of its kind to track language delay from two years of age through to late adolescence, say the Australian researchers whose findings have been published in the latest edition of the Pediatrics journal.
Lead researcher Prof. Andrew Whitehouse said that while late-talkers have increased levels of behavioural and emotional problems at two years of age, these problems tend not to continue.

Ancient Roman sarcophagus found in Lazio
Rome: Archaeologists have discovered an ancient Roman sarcophagus in the central Italian Lazio region surrounding Rome. It is the second sarcophagus discovered during a dig being coordinated by the University of Michigan.
The sarcophagus was uncovered in the area of Lazio believed to the site of the ancient Roman city of Gabii, located between Rome and the city of Palestrina (the ancient Roman city of Praeneste) about 50 kilometres east of Rome.
Both sarcophagi — coffins typically adorned with sculptures or inscriptions — are made of lead and are believed to date from the 1st or 2nd century AD.
The first sarcophagus was unearthed in 2009 by archaeologists working on the same dig, the “Gabii Project”, which began in 2007.
