Oldman, Carter to star in sci-fi film

Colonel and Lady Miyako in the anime-adapted movie project, reported Ace Showbiz. Earlier there were reports that Garrett Hedlund would play the protagonist Kaneda. Oldman will play the Colonel who is the head of secret government project who conducts a research on psychic test subjects. Meanwhile, Lady Miyako is a priestess who is also a major ally of Kaneda and his best friend Kei. To be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Akira centres on Kaneda, a leader of motorcycle gang known as The Capsules. He must save his best friend, who has a destructive psychokinetic abilities, from being made a medical experiment by the government. — PTI
