Peter may direct Hobbit

Multiple Oscar-winning helmer Peter Jackson is likely to take up the direction of The Hobbit movies after Guillermo del Toro’s departure from the project.
Jackson, who directed The Lord of the Rings trilogy adapted from the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien, is attached to The Hobbit, a prequel to the Lord of the Rings, as a scriptwriter and producer.
After Toro left the moviesblaming delays on the part of MGM, Jackson stepped in and is likely to take over as helmer of the movie, says a source close to the situation. There is no official confirmation from co-financiers MGM and New Line, nor from Jackson’s representative at Key Creatives, Variety reported. But stepping into director shoes will be difficult for the King Kong maker as he is already attached as writer and director to two other unidentified films. Jackson’s a producer with Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy on The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn for Paramount, DreamWorks and Sony, due out at the end of 2011. He’s also expected to direct the Tintin sequel.

Restraining order filed against Mel
New York: After Hollywood star Mel Gibson filed a restraining order against his former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, the Russian beauty has now secured a similar domestic violence order against the veteran actor. Grigorieva’s lawyers have told a judge in central Los Angeles that the Braveheart star had been violent towards her, reported TMZ online. Two sources said that Grigorieva claimed Gibson was “extremely violent.”
The judge issued a restraining order prohibiting the 54-year-old actor from having any contact with Grigorieva, but next day, Gibson’s lawyers went back to court and got the order modified so he could see their daughter.
Gibson’s affair with Grigorieva led to the end of his 29-year-long marriage with wife Robyn in 2009, with whom he has seven children. —PTI

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
