Benigni has ‘platonic hatred’ for Silvio
Florence: Oscar-winner Roberto Benigni on Monday unleashed a humorous jibe at Silvio Berlusconi saying that he had a “wonderful relationship of platonic hatred” with the ex-Premier.
“You know, I have always had a wonderful relationship with Berlusconi, a platonic hatred and, as a comic, have feelings of gratitude towards him,” Benigni quipped during a press conference. Pressed by journalists, Benigni said he had to agree with Florence’s reformist centre-left mayor Renzo that the media magnate was “unelectable”.
Benigni was presenting his summer recitations of parts of The Divine Comedy in a popular show called Tutto Dante.
