Sachin helps in friend’s treatment
Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar has come to the rescue of his friend Dilbir Singh who had been bed-ridden since a near fatal accident in 2002 by sponsoring his treatment.
He also came to the city to meet him on Wednesday after his successful hip-replacement surgery at Shelby Hospital. Tendulkar had played under-17 cricket with Singh and both are close friends, Singh’s sister said. “Dilbir had been suffering since his accident in 2002. But now with the hip-replacement his life would be normal again. I am very thankful to Sachin for all his help and support throughout these years,” she said. Tendulkar was paying for Dilbir’s treatment, Kaur said, adding “I salute Sachin for his gesture of kindness.” Dilbir’s mother said she was relieved after the operation of her son.

Lohan may have to face jail term
Los Angeles: Lindsay Lohan has been ordered to attend a probation hearing on Thursday that could result in jail time for reportedly missing alcohol education classes imposed for a 2007 drunken driving case.
Court officials said on Tuesday that Beverly Hills superior court judge Marsha Revel had ordered the Mean Girls actress to attend a progress review in person. The order follows reports by celebrity website TMZ.com that Lohan, 23, has attended only 10 of 13 alcohol education classes required of her, and months of partying chronicled by Los Angeles and New York paparazzi. Lohan’s attorney did not return calls. Lohan has been in France for the Cannes Film Festival this week. —Reuters
