Sanjana to bring Miss Universe to India

MISS UNIVERSE Stefania Fernandez would come to India on a tour to support the cause of raising awareness against AIDS and against female foeticide. The tour, “Miss Universe 2009 — Stefania Fernandez and Sanjana Jon Aids Awareness Tour 2010”, will be held from July 6 to July 11 and is supported by Ek Foundation.
Talking to the media here on Wednesday, fashion designer Sanjana Jon said that Miss Fernandez would land up in Delhi on July 6 and will participate in various programmes related to the twin campaigns. A musical performance by Sajid-Waijd is also on the cards.
Though Jon maintained that she would like to take the Miss Universe to areas in states like Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan — where the scale of female foeticide was quite high — nothing was planned as yet. “You all will be told about the places which she is going to visit. For the time being, Delhi and Bengaluru is sure. In Bengaluru, we have got tremendous support,” said Jon. When asked how would she connect with the people at the grassroots level, Jon said that she would love to go the villages and other interior areas but it was not possible to meet everybody. The video on stopping female foeticide, with music composed by Sajid-Wajid, would focus on the issue and will go a long way in spreading the awareness,” said Jon.
