Smallest 3D printer is just 1.5kg
Scientists have developed what they say is the world’s smallest 3D printer which is the size of a milk carton and weighs just 1.5 kilograms.
Developed by researchers at the Vienna University of Technology, the new printer is believed to revolutionise the three-dimensional printing technology, making it accessible and affordable for all. Most 3D printers available currently are too large and too expensive for private use.
But the new printer, which costs about $1,700 may finally change that by providing rapid fabrication in smaller size and lower price needed by the home consumer, said the researchers.
“We will continue to reduce the size of the printer, and the price will definitely decrease too, if it is produced in large quantities,” Klaus Stillmann, one of its creators, was quoted as saying by LiveScience.
According to the researchers, the objects are printed with a special type of resin that “hardens precisely where it is illuminated with intense beams of light”.

Wife forced him to admit to lovechild
New York: Arnold Schwarzenegger did not voluntarily tell his wife Maria Shriver that he had fathered a love child with their housemaid Mildred Baena. Instead, the actor and former California governor was forced to confess when Shriver confronted the woman, who admitted it, according to a celebrity gossip website. Maria asked the maid — also known as Patty — if her son was fathered by Arnold and the housekeeper broke down and confessed that the Terminator was the father of her boy, according to RadarOnline. Armed with that information, Maria confronted her husband who admitted it. That’s the real story of how the love child scandal unfolded in the Schwarzenegger household, according to the website. Making his first public statement on the sordid episode Monday, Arnold had said, “After leaving the governor’s office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago.” —IANS
