Sony, MGM join hands for Bond 23
James Bond will be back on the big scr-een, thanks to a collaboration between Sony Pictures Entertainment and MGM. The 23rd Bond film will be financed, marketed and distributed by the Hollywood studios as a joint venture.
Sony will release the film throughout the world except in select international territories, whereas MGM will directly oversee distribution and the 24th film will also be made on a similar basis, said a press statement.
“Sony Pictures is the ideal studio partner for us as MGM re-enters the filmmaking business. We have long-standing relationships with Michael and Amy and look forward to what promises to be a prosperous future together,” said MGM co-chairmen Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum. The two studios have collaborated directly and indirectly in recent years on many films, including the two recent Bond flicks, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and The Pink Panther. —PTI
