Star power wows audience at finale
The crowd let out a huge sigh as Bollywood actor Imran Khan opened the closing show of the third edition of Van Heusen India Mens Week 2011 for Karan Johar and Varun Bahl.
Imran looked dapper in a charcoal black jacket teamed with white-fitted trousers and made way for more toned bodies in slinky cowls, ankle-length pants, nautical jackets, jerseys, crushed linen coats, drainpipes and more sequinned jackets.
The highlight of the collection, after layering, was the slender belts tied around the shoulders in different patterns.
The printed silk boxer shorts peeking out of see-through fine linen trousers got the attention of one and all.
Soon a group of bare-chested men in boxer shorts in bold geometrics were sent by the duo, post which the colour palette progressed from neutral shades like beige, ivory, and monsoon-sky grey to brights like salmon, amber, blue, pistachio, and mustard and finally transitioning into charcoal and black.
The show reached its climax when smoking hot Katrina Kaif walked down the ramp in a shimmery black jacket with a pair of neatly cut silk trousers. Imran Khan, this time in a black formal suit, accompanied her, Varun and Karan before the finale designers took a bow and the curtains were drawn.
Earlier in the evening, Bengaluru-based designer Manoviraj Khosla showcased his collection, which was quite ostentatious and “colourful”.
The chequered jackets with pants in contrasting shades managed to create the mood but failed to maintain it as before long garish pink, orange and purple led the assault on the ramp.
Bengaluru-based Manov-iraj Khosla also used a lot of tie-and-dye for jackets and trousers.
Folded pants, waistcoats, crushed cotton shirts and jackets in velvet teamed with funky printed shoes were also seen along with shimmery bandhgalas.
