‘Turkey was domesticated 2,500 yrs ago’

The practice of buying a turkey for Christmas or Thanksg-iving Day might have its origin in the ancient Mayan civilisation, as a new study has shown that they domesticated turkey and sacrificed it for rituals.
Researchers from the University of Florida found that the turkey, one of the most widely consumed birds worldwide, was domesticated by the ancient Mayans nearly 2500-years-ago.
The discovery of the bones in the ancient Mayan archaeological site in Guatemala provides evidence of domestication and trading, is usually a significant mark of civilisation, and the earliest evidence of trade between the Mayan world and the northern Meso-America tribes during the Late Preclassic period from 300 BC to AD 100.

Gaga leaks Vogue cover on twitter
Los Angeles: Lady Gaga has leaked to her fans the latest cover of fashion magazine Vogue featuring her, with an accompanying interview where she says she finds ways to be “irresponsible”.
On Wednesday, Gaga shared on Twitter the first glimpse of the cover of the September issue marking Vogue’s 120th anniversary, featuring the popstar in a long purple gown.
“Shh don’t tell twitter/ Sept issue of Vogue magazine,” Gaga wrote alongside the cover image, adding an apology to the editor, “Sorry Anna (Wintour) but the underground kids deserve it.”
The Born This Way hitmaker also posted one of the inside shots, in which she appears naked, except for an oversized hat, reported GossipCop.
In the accompanying article, Gaga admitted she still likes to “feel a little irresponsible and act like I’m nineteen”. — PTI
