Another victim surfaces
The Crime Branch’s Organised Crime Wing (OCW), that is investigating the Nedumbassery-Dubai sex racket case in which 125 women and minors from Kerala were allegedly trafficked to Gulf countries, received yet another complaint from a victim from Nooranad in Alappuzha.
The woman said in her complaint that she was taken to Ajman by the racketeers and sold into the sex trade. She has alleged that she was forced into the sex trade for four months after being told she was being employed as a house maid.
With this, the total number of complaints has gone up to four. The other complaints are from victims in Kattappana in Idukki and Kazhakkoottam in Thiruvananthapuram and the case that they had used fake passports, the police said.
The probe is expected to pick up pace with the latest complaint from Nooranad. The police are expecting more victims to come forward and provide evidence about the international racket.
“The new complaint sheds a fresh light on the case. The case is getting stronger and the racketeers will be arrested soon. With a look-out notice for the main accused being published, we expect more victims to come to the police,” said P.M. Varghese, the DySP who is investigating the case.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch is set to seek the custody of Sethulal and Shaji, who surrendered before the court last week in connection with the sex racket. The sleuths will move court on Monday and are expecting to get custody of the two men for three days.
